One of the easiest ways to monitor your business’ fuel usage and mitigate against fuel theft is by utilizing a cardlock program. A Carson fuel card puts control and fuel accountability in your hands with user-friendly tools and real-time visibility. The technology behind these programs provides you a toolbox of convenient ways to manage your fleet’s fuel. A cardlock program provides a vital layer of protection through tailored account settings that cover nearly every aspect of a fuel purchase for every card holder.
What is Cardlock?
Cardlocks are unmanned fuel stations where purchases are “unlocked” via a membership fuel card. Each cardlock is independently owned, yet part of a larger network of stations.Â
Typically located along high-traffic routes and in industrial zones, cardlock fuel stations are designed with businesses in mind. Their pumps are accessible to large trucks, open 24 hours, and self-serve. Your fleet spends less time waiting in line at the pump and more time focusing on your business.
In addition to cardlock stations, cardlock cards can also be used at participating truck stops and retail gas stations. Carson Cardlock cards give you access to over 150,000 fueling sites across the United States and Canada.

Why Carson Cardlock?
NETWORK SIZE Carson operates 65 cardlock stations, in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, with 58 of them seemlessly integrated into our primary internal network. In Oregon, we own roughly 25% of the cardlock stations, making us the state’s largest provider. We also offer all our customers both CFN and Pacific Pride cards – with ONE convenient bill no matter which card you use.
OPTIONS Why does this matter? As each station is individually-owned, cardlock providers are only able to negotiate pricing at the stations they own. The more stations your provider owns, the more opportunities for in-network fuel savings. Not only does Carson have the most cardlock stations, the majority of Oregon cardlocks with renewable diesel (R99) are Carson-owned. Furthermore, nearly half our stations carry NEXGEN DEF at the pump.
SUPPORT Your Carson support team provides a personalized onboarding process. Your designated Sales Team will help you optimize fuel card settings, define individual cardholder parameters and establish custom reporting to work in tandem with your existing accounting programs. We’ll also assist you in an aggregate fuel cost overview and development of a fuel purchasing policy. Whenever you have a question, this same Team will assist you.
In addition, Carson has a dedicated Cardlock deparment to oversee other cardlock matters, such as issuing new cards or resolving problems at a cardlock site.
